Which design requirements must be observed for labelling?

Artwork masters of the Bio-Siegel in the most common file formats as well as information on the design and use of the Bio-Siegel on packaging, advertising and sales promotion materials are available online in the download area of www.bio-siegel.de, by e-mail or on a CD-ROM from the Information Centre Bio-Siegel.

When labelling the products the rules of the Eco Labelling Regulation must be observed. This means, among other things, that the minimum size of the Bio-Siegel within the graphic design of product labels is 10 mm, the maximum size is 33 mm – measured from the left outer to the right outer corner of the green frame.

However, the maximum width may only be used in so far as the "B" of the Bio-Siegel is no bigger than 60 percent of the biggest letter of the product description. If the minimum size is observed this "60 percent rule" does not have to be applied in addition. A white outline of the same width as the green frame is an integral part of the seal. The spatial proportions between the wording and graphic elements of the eco label must not be altered.

A corporate design manual on the uniform use of the Bio-Siegel provides help, graphic specifications and masters (e.g. for the option "adjusted colours" or "transparent background"). The corporate design manual is available together with the CD-ROM (see above) from the Information Centre or can be downloaded as a pdf file from the website www.bio-siegel.de.
