Does the use of the Bio-Siegel have to be announced?
The
Eco Labelling Regulation stipulates that products labelled with the Bio-Siegel must be registered with the Information Centre Bio-Siegel before the label is used for the first time.
All producers who wish to use the Bio-Siegel must register their organic products and send one sample label (attached to a DIN A4 sheet) per product to the Information Centre Bio-Siegel. A
notification form (only available in German) for registration is included in the Eco Labelling Regulation.
The completed notification form can be returned to the Information Centre Bio-Siegel by fax, post or e-mail. Online registration is also possible.
After registration the company will receive an e-mail with the login information to update own entries or add further products that will use the Bio-Siegel to the product list.
Out of data privacy reasons only the data of those companies who explicitly agreed to publication at the time of the registration of the labelled products is published.
Retail outlets that sell products bearing the Bio-Siegel but do not label or otherwise prepare the products in line with the EU Organic Farming Regulation do not have to register.
