Can the Bio-Siegel be used in advertising?

Since its launch in September 2001 up to December 2006 more than 1,868 companies have registered their use of the Bio-Siegel for over 35,405 products. Due to the positive trend in the organic industry, the already high level of recognition of the Bio-Siegel among consumers, the increasing contact rates through the products in the shops and the various information activities of the Federal Ministry of Consumer Protection, Food and Agriculture the importance of the national label for consumer communication is increasing continuously.

Use of the Bio-Siegel for advertising purposes is not only possible but even encouraged, notification is not necessary. The prerequisite is that the relevant products are and may be labelled with the Bio-Siegel. Therefore price-displays as well as, for example, shelves carrying organic products can feature the Bio-Siegel. Ceiling danglers or shop window stickers can also be used for promotions. The maximum size of the Bio-Siegel may be exceeded for advertising purposes.
